Yo compacters everywhere, I've a question here. How do you improve the reliability of an alias when doing a wholesale bulk load transfer of configured software? On several external boot hard drives, I keep a fully configured software load for each the SE, Classic, Classic II, SE/30, and Colo(u)r Classic. I will boot to one of these drives, nuke and pave the internal drive using Apple HDSC Setup from the external, do a select-all, then drag-and-drop of the fully configured software load onto the clean drive. Maybe half of the alias' survive while many do not. On each set, what alias' survive and which break is absolutely consistant. The SE is the worst breaking most but not all. The SE/30 is a bit better. The Classic is near perfect. The Classic II and Colo(u)r Classic are a bit better than the SE/30 but nowhere near the success of the Classic.
Have we any hints as to how to improve the reliability of an alias in a wholesale transfer? Have we any idea why some alias survive and other right alongside fail?
