Yo compacters everywhere, Matt Jordan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> askz:
>What is the best System Software/Disk diagnosis tool (or suite) for compact >Macs and the LC5xx/Mac TV series? (i.e. Norton Utilities) Matt, You are looking for Norton's Utilities for Macintosh (NUM) version 3.5.3. It is the last that works with 030 and 040 processors (e.g; Classic II, SE/30, Color Classic, 575). Norton's still supports "registered" users but will respond to most any eMail on the subject from anyone. Norton's 2.0 seems to be the last for 68000 Macs. The -p suggested TechTool Pro and Disk Warrior. Yup, these are good. Disk Warrior is especially good; worth every penny. Try Apple's Disk First Aid 8.5.2. Yup, it'll run on our later compacts. FWB 2.0.6 is a very good drive tool to compliment the Apple HDSC Setup utility. Do not overlook the freeware version of TechTool for the best in desktop rebuilding. And keep SCSI Probe handy. It gets pretty esoteric after these. Bill -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
