I just got an abused Plus delivered to my Abandoned Computer Shelter. It was not working when I got it. Some heavy handed person had been prying all around the case with a screwdriver. After jumping a broken trace (from the screwdriver) on the mother board and fiddling with the video adjustments, I got a boot tone and a sort-of picture. I had to apply pressure to one of the pots to keep the desktop visible behind some distortion and slanted horizontal lines, but was able to shutdown normally from the barely readable menu.
The next time I tried to boot it, instead of a tone, I got a rhythmic clicking. The rate is steady at about 3 clicks per second. It starts out softly then rises in volume. The previous owner mentioned a strange noise when switching it on. I ruled out the mother board as the problem by switching boards, so I figured the analog board was the problem. I resoldered all of the points on the analog board but still get that crazy rhythm when I switch on. Does anybody know if there is an easy fix for this or is this Plus destined for the parts pile?
