I think William has pointed out the key factor: something may be technically feasible, but how usable is it? Here. for instance, I've been following this discussion and wondering about ethernet-networking my 4/40 Classic to my ADSL-enabled G3 for both printing and Internet purposes. Right now the Classic gets on the (text-only) Internet just fine with a dial-up modem, ZTerm and an A/UX shell account; and it also accesses TCP/IP e-mail with MacTCP, MacPPP, and an early version of Eudora, but I'm betting that that is as far as its tiny perfect 4MB of RAM and 8 (count 'em, 8!) MH can go. Heck, I haven't even bothered to install the QuickTime that came with the OS 7.1 disk set.
Does anyone have any experience with exactly this set-up that counters that? -- George Stacey 4250 40th Ave. N.W.
