I recommend against putting pre-1990 cases in the dishwasher (any Mac II except the IIsi maybe and any compact apart from the Classics/CCs) as the earlier machines did not use tin plated shielding for EMI reduction, instead they used a spray paint of heavily loaded silver metal paint on the inside of the case. Back when we discussed doing LCs and Mac IIs on Vint. Macs one guy said his dishwasher stripped the silver paint off of the inside of his IIci casing. Unless you know a place that sells the spray paint (for repainting inside TVs maybe as they used it too) I'd avoid the dishwasher. A combination of a good foam case cleaner and some Isopropyl Alcohol spray for the tough stains brought my pair of SE/30s up like new, apart from a little yellowing and the odd physical scratch. I'm starting to hate people who put stock labels on Macs, the number of machines I have that have white (sorry 'platinum') patches on where the sticker was is silly. I've not tried any bleaches, I have a spare rear housing off of an SE/30 so I might swap it for one that looks badly yellowed and see what I can do with some long rubber gloves and an afternoon.
