Yo compacters everywhere, the pickle and Gamba exchanged:
>>>> Find the Network Software Selector control panel. >>> >>> Don't have one. ? >> >>Hey pickle, it's not a control panel. >>It's an application, residing in Apple Extras folder. > >Woops. I always moved it to the CP folder as soon as OT was installed :) Tres Mac. And I like it. This odd application behaves and does the kind of task that we think of as a control panel. Several "control panels" such as Extensions Manager are actually applications yet even Apple puts 'em in the Control Panels folder. And things like SCSI Probe which is a control panel are often put into a utilities folder where it works just fine. I put SCSI Probe in the Control Panels folder where it "belongs" and alias it to utilities. When people ask why I do that, I shows 'em that this is really a control panel which always surprises 'em. Also, I alias the Chooser to the Control Panels folder because it, too, behaves like a control panel. This makes my initial setup easier including the Chooser from the Control Panels folder. Ages ago, I used to just move the Chooser to the Control Panels folder where it worked just fine-EXCEPT-that some applications and updaters couldn't find it. They were looking in the Apple Menu Items folder where someone at Apple deci! ded the Chooser was supposed to live always. Set 'em up anyway ya like it. If it works, enjoy it. If it doesn't work, set it straight and alias it. Then go enjoy it. Bill -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
