>Pina's Classic and SE Repair and Upgrade Secrets says...nothing. > >Pina's Dead Mac Scrolls says...nothing specific to the Classic but with the SE >it's a bad SIMM. See if there's any RAM installed, and if so, remove it and >reboot. You wouldn't know some way of contacting Larry Pina, or perhaps an explanation for this anomaly? On page 219 (top paragraph) of his "Macintosh Repair and Upgrade Secrets" he states, "Turn to the chapter on logic board repairs for further instructions." Only, there is no chapter on logic board repairs, unless I go blind every time I read the table of contents. And I've flipped through this thing more times than I like to think about. Plus, the further instructions to which that sentence refers aren't in the book anywhere nor are they in "The Dead Mac Scrolls". So did he write the logic board repair chapter and then cut it for space? Or was it never written? If the former, might he be willing to share it? It's hardly going to be publishable for profit at this point. While in the realm of Larry Pina type things (can't think of an analog board repair without thinking of L.P.) what is the little neon bulb (think it's a neon bulb) for on the Mac Plus analog board? I've got one board that probably has a bad solder joint of cracked trace. It's intermittent as far as working and when one flexes it a bit it cuts out (machine restarts or shuts down) and the neon bulb comes on. I figure that bulb must be a clue to what's happening when I flex the board. Jeff Walther -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
