Reading this thread made me laugh! I snipe all the
time. I only bid in advance if an auction has a
couple days left and I don't want to forget about
it... Bidding in advance usually gives me "warning"
emails when I'm outbid closer to the end of an
auction. Ebay generally sends you those "reminder"
emails, but Ironically, mine usually come into my
inbox *after* the auction has ended.

I always keep two or three windows open at the same
time and usually bid when I see the clock dip below 10
seconds. There have only been a handful of times I've
ever lost an auction. I didn't even know they had
bots that did this for you... IMO that takes the
sport out of it, but hey, alls fair...

I've had a couple of occasions though where sniping
backfired on me... watching an auction clock run
down... 2 minutes left in the auction, then my
internet acess dies and comes up 3 minutes later only
to have the auction gone without me being able to
snipe a bid... That always peeves me, but it doesn't
happen regularly. It's amazing how wrapped up you can
get in winning an auction. I always try to set a
limit that I won't bid over though to keep me from
payign ridiculous amounts for something silly.

Cheers,
Sionnach
