I've got to think that in most places in NA, these compact Macs are easily acquired. Here in Alberta, I could quite easily round up a skid of compact Macs, and in most cases, pay almost nothing for them. They are being recycled here (recycled into base components - glass, plastic, etc...). I hate to see them getting crunched. I quite often get them for free, or pay for them by the pound...
That's why I have a basement full of them. I have a hard time finding a use for them, so I always have a surplus. I also have many other Macs - Quadras, Performas, Power Macs, that are picked up quite cheaply. I'm sure if a person looks in their own locale, they will find plenty of Macs, for a very reasonable cost.
