yes, it's on the logic board.  they always are except for the early,
early macs that had a battery compartment just above the power entry
with a snap on cover.  your procedure sounds basically correct.  i
haven't opened one for 6 months but i don't remember any special
problems with removing the logic board, just carefully remove the
connectors first.  on the power connector, there is a tab/lever in the
middle on one side you need to squeeze to release it, but it's pretty
easy to unplug if you squeeze it.
