My guess is you can use the ethernet and localtak port at the same time. I do so with my laserwriter IIg which is basically a hp machine in an apple case. My iMac and pb g3 are connected via ethernet, my plus via localtalk. About the software: my guess is that any laserwriter driver will do. With my plus is doens't matter much which system with default installed laserwriter driver I'm using (system 2, 5 or 6), the printer always works. > >2. Wether you print via localtalk or ethernet, the laserwriter drivers are the same.
