Not really relevant, but fun. A few weeks ago one fellow was
selling reels of 68000 processors on Ebay. They were four reels of
250 processors for about $100 or $.10 each per 68000. He had several
lots of 1000. But they were PLCC packages. They won't go in the
compacts. However, they would work in the Outbound Laptop, which
uses a socketed PLCC 68000.

It's not relevant because you'd expect very different pricing between
something like a 68020 and a 68000. The 68HC11 is even simpler than
the 68000 and likely to be cheaper at retail pricing.

The last time I checked on new 68RC040 processors from a real
distributer, they wanted something like $400 each. Admittedly, this
was three or four years ago, but even then one could pick one up used
for about $50. Now days, I find them on motherboards in the $5 bin
at the Goodwill Computer Store.
