Yo compacters everywhere, A week ago, our Jan Wawrzynczak <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> asked
>what is the collective opinion on leaving compacts permanently on? i have my >classic powered up 24 hrs a day (with screensaver!) - should i turn it off? Better than a year ago, lister Clark Martin posted the volt x amp (va) power consumption figures he had measured for our various compacts. The va numbers are close enough to watts and serve the same purpose. At 26.9 va, the Classic was the least user of power among all of Clark's figures. At this little power, turning it on or off is not going to be based on reducing your electric bill! If your screen saver is a clock or serves as a nightlight, I vote along with our Marten van de Kraats to leave it on. Since you are half way around the world from The Netherlands (antipodal), your Classic's noise won't be bothering Marten. Bill -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
