the contacts in the plug may simply be too oxidized to make good contact, they also 
tend to be less springy after getting hot.  i had that problem and decided the easiest 
fix was just to pull the problem pin on both ends and solder the wire to the board.  
since i rarely pull an analog board out even to fix it that works well for me, and if 
i do need to pull the board it's only one connection.  if you need other parts you 
should be able to get new pins online if you'd like, of course all those places have a 
small order fee or just won't take an order below $20-25, that's why i just soldered 
the silly wire, after poking it through the empty connector slot (the other pins were 
all fine, and it was just the top most pin in my case, i've no idea which color it 
was).
