I was referring to today's spreading use of "phenomena" as a singular 
form. I still like "virii" and hope to find ways of using it again really 
soon. "Criteria" as a singular noun is the most offensive of the lot to 
me. You can thank the folks at Time, Inc. for spreading that one, and I 
saw "millenniums" in the ever-snooty NY Times just the other day. Yikes. 
Hippopotami, anyone?

But seriously, what I desperately need to know is what's the best 
antivirus program for today's peecee's, a W98 box specifically. Norton? 

Still OT, but that *is* where I started out before wandering into this 
particular linguistic thicket.
