Hello!

Yesterday I found the culprit!. A 1N4150 diode in the CRT neck circuit was
shorted. There are just 4 dioded on that circuit; how it got unnoticed
until yesterday? (I was sure I had checked all the components). Because it
is in parallel with a power resistor and, at first read some days ago, I
thought it was 1 Ohm, so I didn't care about the continuity beep I got...
but looking closely, it was 1k Ohm!. So I got out the diode and replaced by
a 1N4148 (I have yet to check specs of both), put a 2N2222A instead of the
2N3904 (note to Gamba, who kindly has sent me some transistors: I plan to
replace the 2N2222A with a 2N3904 you have sent; yesterday I was too eager
to check for results :-)!) and replaced the previously changed 220 Ohm
resistor which was firstly burned, just in case. Powered up the Classic...
and got a nice happy Mac!

BTW, it has Spanish System 7.1 installed along some interesting programs in
its 40Mb HD.

So, thanks a lot to Tom, Gamba and everybody who helped me on this. Another
Compact is working at this side of the World :-) :-)!

Best regards from a happy camper,

JOSE
