Hello all
I have a problem with a HD I have just fitted in my Classic. I replaced the 40mb HD with a 100mb HD but the problem is the computer can't see it. The 100mb HD is a Quantum driv out of an old Quadra 900. It has System 7 installed on it and worked perfectly before I took it out to put in my Classic (the reason I stripped the Quadra was that it died on me). After installation I fired up my Classic and got the flashing disk icon. I sort of expected this so I stuck in Disk tools from System 7.0.1 and attempted to initialize the disk with Apple SC HD setup 7.3.5. It came up saying that there are no suitable SCSI devices available. So I used the hacked version (changed '00' to 'FF') but still came up saying the same - There are no suitable SCSI devices available. So this time I booted up and used SCSI probe to see if it even detects and if it works. SCSI probe sees something there but it doesn't say Quantum drive as it should, instead it describes it with a line of jumbled up characters (for example: JJS&KQUNA) and the disk does spin as I can hear it when SCSI probe is running but still won't mount. Help, how do I get this disk to mount so I can wipe it and use it. Is it damaged or am I doing something wrong that I am over > looking?
Does the HD have termination resistors installed? Stuart
