My SE/30 with a IIsi ROM also shows the horizontal stripes on startup. 
Alas, I don't have 128Mb of RAM so I can't really complain about the 
time taken for the RAM check. I find it hard enough to make use of 32Mb 
unless I use a web browser or Photoshop.

Mark B -- you have an SE/30 with the 50MHz socketed Daystar 
accelerator, don't you? Is the startup "bing" a little briefer and a 
slightly different pitch than a standard SE/30?
