Well, the answer appears to be www.mouseballz.com - who list a heavy 1" 
ball, who were very prompt in replying to my request for a quotation, 
who don't rip people off for international postage, and from whom I 
hope to receive 12 1" mouse balls before Christmas. Watch this space!
