When I bought my LaCie CD-RW (with a Yamaha 4416s mechanism) several years
ago, it came bundled with Toast 3.5.6. I'm going to guess that 3.0.2 is
too old for that drive; go to adaptec.com (or roxio.com, since they've
changed names) and see. Does your version of Toast include the Read Me
file? (I can email you the 3.5.6 version, not that it will really help
withy 3.0.2)

According to the Toast manual, it is not necessary to have the Toast CD
reader installed to use Toast (the Toast app includes all the necessary
drivers). In fact, you are supposed to boot with extensions off when
burning.

BTW, I bought that drive for my System 7.1 SE/30, too :-); (OT - now I
also use it with my iMac and the Orange Firewire converter - still use
Toast 3.5.6)
