Thought I'd introduce myself since I'm new to the list. My name is Steve Fuller. I just recently bought an SE/30 off of Ebay and this looked like a good list to join if I run into any issues using it or getting it to work. It boots fine now. It currently has a 254MB scsi drive in it now. It's running System 7 right now (7.1 I think). I purchased a Mac SE FDHD new back in 90 or 91. I wanted the SE/30 at that time, but I couldn't afford it. Decided the other day that I wanted one because they are cheap now, and I wanted to own what I think was one of the best machines Apple has ever built. Cosmetically the machine is pretty clean. It does have one crack in the top corner of the case, but it's nothing too noticable.
Not sure what I want to do with it yet. I plan to upgrade the ram from 8MB to either 64 or 128MB. I have a couple of external drives I've picked up at various places that I might add to it as well. I'm thinking about adding an ethernet card to it as well. Not sure what I will end up running on it as of yet. System 7.5.5 is one thought. I've also noticed that there seem to be some BSD variants running around that will work on it as well. A/UX also came to mind for old times sake. I had a friend that ran A/UX on his SE/30 while I was in college and he's the one that convinced me to buy my SE. In addition to the SE/30. I also own a 405MHz G4 tower, a Lombard Powerbook G3, as well as a couple of Powerbook 145s that are sitting around doing pretty much nothing right now. I also own a farily large bevy of PCs (9 or 10 at last count all PIII-500 or better). Anyway, that's me in a nutshell. I look forward to participating on the list and reading. :) Steve Fuller -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
