For now you are better off going with 7.0.1 instead of 7.1 because:
1..7.0.1 is downloadable in individual disk images whereas the only
download site for 7.1 has it in one big file, which eventually becomes
individual disk images after decoding and unstuffing.

2..if you already don't know how to get Mac disk images from PC to Mac then
there's a lot of info on how to do that at

3..System 6 on the Mac complicates matters a bit. It's easier with system
7, so there's a catch 22 situation.

4..The easiest way to get large files from PC to Mac is by using a null
modem cable on the serial ports and something like StarGate on both
machines. That is covered in (2) above. StarGate requires system 7.

I'v never owned a PC, but other list members have been through the drill
before on this PC to Mac situation.
