No make or model specified on the drive; but according to the info obtained
by running HDT Prober, Phil seems to have given the right clue:
-Vendor: CONNER
-Model: CP3040A-40mb-3,5
-Revision Level: 2.31

Still beats me however, how a file compressing utility such as DiskDoubler,
could actually double the size of a disk drive too...?
Life (and Macs) are indeed full of mystery.
