I still have 4 mB RAM sitting in my former (now useless) Classic.

4MB means that you have 2MB on the motherboard and two 1MB 30-pin SIMMs on the Classic.

The Classic II has a similar setup, but there is no point sticking
1MB SIMMs in the Classic II, get hold of two 4MB 30-pin SIMMs
which will bring the Classic II up to 10MB (max allowable by the
ROM).

It's easy swapping them over, but you'll need a special screwdriver
for the four screws keeping the case together. Easily obtainable
in a computer or tool store.
