Another user mailed me about this just last week suggesting that I wash the logic board in warm soapy water and then allow to dry at least over-night. I was skeptical, but tried anyway. It worked. when I put the board back in the classic II and turned it on it came right up, and has worked perfectly ever since. now I am upgrading the harddrive, and putting 7.5.3 on it... I also discovered that the processor had some bent pins. i fixed that as well. now that I see it clean I realize how dirty it was before....
