I think most compact Macs (including the CC/CCII) don't like two or three-chip SIMMs, so you would want to get a couple of eight or nine-chip SIMMs. Don't know why, but when I first upgraded my Classic's memory with two trhee-chip 1 Mb memory modules, I started to get a lot of random crashes. When I replaced them with two nine-chip 1 Mb modules, the little Classic started running without a problem :-) . Does anybody know the reason because of which the compacts don't like those SIMMs?
