First of all, many thanks for all the help. Marten solved the LAN communication problem by advising me to install OT 1.1.2 and up to date Apple Share Client software. In my network all three Mac's now see each other but I cannot access Internet trough my router nor directly through my cable modem. When on the LAN I see no IP and other details by having configured Ethernet and DHCP but once I connect to one of the other machines my SE/30 shows that it is machine .12 ( the third ) with similar numbers for the Subnet Mask etc. Still no connection possible with Internet. To my mind this means the internet card in the SE/30 is working but there must be some software mixup.

Details: SE/30 with 128 RAM, OS 7.5.5 and Asante ethernet card. On the back of the card are two LED's one red and one green, the green one is on and the slide switch is in it's topmost position at TPL. The other positions are TPN and TK. So what's the secret? The main card has a second connector turned 90 degrees towards the interior of the machine but obstructed at the distance of 1/2 inch by the 250 MB HD. Wouldn't know what would fit in there.

TIA, greetings, Andre.
