The type of cable you need depends on what type of ports your external hard drive has (most are either 25 pin like the Mac or big ones with 50 pins and a couple of spring clips - C50). Most likely you will need a terminator on the unused port of the drive. The SCSI ID number of the drive needs to be set to something other than 1.
