A couple of friends of mine just gave me an SE in a group of goodies that
also included a Performa 550 all-in-one.

The SE is the first "conversion" I've seen. It's back plate says it started
life as a two-800k-floppy SE. It has a strip of plastic across the top slot
of the two-slot faceplate, with a rectangular clear light-window.

Internally was a 40MB Sony hard disk that had a stiction issue, until I
slapped it a few times. It yielded it's contents to a Quantum 40MB drive,
and was dissassembled.

This is the second Sony hard disk I've had and like the first one, was in a
state of disrepair.

Eh. I'm sure the conversion was fairly common way back when. But this is the
first I've owned.

As a bonus, the remaining floppy drive works like new.
