Hi,

I'm finally getting around to selling off some of my, uh, excess, Macs -
since I no longer have anywhere to store them. I'm going to have to mail
some Macs, including an SE and SE/30 interstate, and was pondering how best
to package them to ensure that they survive the tender mercies of Australia
Post.

Of the boxes I have, the only ones large enough to accomodate a compact Mac
will leave a gap of 4cm (1.25") between the sides of the Mac and that of the
box. There will be a gap of 10cm (4") between the front and rear of the Mac
and the box (some of the space between the Mac's rear and the box will be
occupied by the keyboard and mouse) and around 3cm (1.125") between the top
and bottom of the Mac and the box.

Are these "buffers" large enough? I plan of filling them with stiff sheets
of styrofoam, of the sort styrofoam boxes are made of, after wrapping the
Mac and it's accessories in bubblewrap or something similar first, then
plastering the finished product with "FRAGILE" and "THIS WAY UP ^" stickers.

Is this a good approach, or should I do something different? FWIW the boxes
themselves hail all the way from sunny Ohio and have a "certificate" on the
bottom stating that it can withstand up to 35lb/in crush pressure.

Cheers,
Adam.
