As the owner of an SE with that confounded 800k floppy drive, I was wondering is it possible to replace it with the drive from a later Mac & thus be able to "talk" to the rest of the Mac world?
I think you mean you want to be able to read high density disks... A drive replacement is not enough for that, you will also have to replace the ROM because this one only recognizes SD and DD floppy's.
The rest of the Mac World with build in floppy drives can read your floppies btw, but I guess you refer to contemporary Macs which depend on external usb floppy drives that can only read High density disks.
