No dice, Rog. In order to get a SuperDrive (the original, not the
conflabbin' dvd thing) into that SE, you need to upgrade the floppy
controller. Apple once sold a kit that came with a drive and a SWIM (?)
chip, but good luck finding one.

Correct. SWIM = Super Wozniac Integrated Machine.


The original floppy controller in the Plus and earlier was the IWM or Integrated Wozniac Machine.

The upgrade to the Mac II and the Mac SE involves replacing both the ROM chips and the IWM chip. The former with updated ROMs and the latter with an SWIM chip.
