Well... the hard disk in question had been an accountant's
and the company is having reservations about providing me this
now "useless" hardware.  I believe formatting the disk would
be sufficient because I have no intention of trying to recover
any of their data anyway, but I understand their concerns.

I'd rather they not physically destroy (shred) this hardware
as that defeats the purpose of why I want it altogether.
