yeah, it actually belongs to an aunt of mine. old machine from one of the school she taught at. it's been dropped, sadly. yes, on the floor. the case is a bit cracked, but the crt seems fine, and i can find no cracks on the logic board. looked with a jewler's loop. haven't pulled the analogue board yet, but i can see the corners are cracked a bit (no traces broken). could a damaged analogue board prevent a CCII from booting? about putting the mb in a dishwasher. shouldn't i be concerned about the relatively high water pressure in there? all the caps i can see are canister type packages. such cans are sealed, but under pressure i wonder if water could get in there... also, what kind of visible evidence of leakage should i see. i can see none. also, should i take the roms out? the simms? and, i've noticed that there's a 68-pinn simm socket beside the 30-pin ram sockets. is that for the vram? it's for expansion only, right? there's 256kb on the mb, isn't there? come to think of it there's 4mb of ram on board too, so i should troubleshoot without the ram... with luck, i won't have to turn this baby into a macquarium... jj -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
