AFAIK, all Pluses (except the very early ones) can be expanded to a full 4 Mb without aditional hardware. They have four SIMM slots in the motherboard that are ussually filled with four 256 Kb SIMMs, giving you the default 1 Mb. You can replace two of the SIMMs, or all four, with 1 Mb modules, upgrading the memory to 2.5 Mb (256 Kb + 256 Kb + 1 Mb + 1Mb) or 4 Mb (4 * 1 Mb).
