I have a problem with my Mac Plus :( I have many freeze if I don't use the
Mac for a few minutes.....


For exemple :

1) I power on the Mac Plus without keyboard, without mouse, without hd
external .....
2) I see the Mac logo "?" to insert a floppy, I wait about 5 minutes before

3) when I insert a bootable floppy for exemple 6.0.8 boot disk, all freeze
and I the "Sad Mac" and the error code 0F0003

insert the floppy, It run the OS 6.0.8 and I can use it without problems,
then I shut down the Mac Ok
3) I leave the Mac for some minutes in the black screen " "after the shut
down,
when I move the mouse all freeze :((((



other test


1) I power on the Mac Plus with keyboard, with mouse and with HD bootable
with OS 7.1
2) It run the OS 7.1 and I can use it without problems, then I shut down
the Mac Ok
3) I leave the Mac for some minutes in the black screen " "after the shut
down,
when I move the mouse all freeze :((((





I have seen here for error code : http://www.cwu.edu/~lynnl/sdec.html , It say the error code 0F0003 is Illegal instruction2, but It freeze without run an OS :(

Specifications of my Mac Plus :

A) NO battery installed
B) I have installed 4Mb of ram removing the four 256KB ram installed before,
and inserting four 1Mb ram of 70ns, I have also snipped off the resistor as
seen here http://macplus.mia.net/installram.html


I think to have an hardware problem, some idea ? or could be a problem
becouse there isn't the battery or the RAM I have installed It's not
compatible ?

My guess would be that there is something about your RAM that your mac doesn't like. I have found that the newer 1mb simms (the ones with three chips on them) don't work as well as the older ones with 8 or 9 chips on them. Also, since PC clones sometimes used slightly different memory than macs, their ram may not always work. Try another set of RAM chips. 1mb simms are dirt cheap these days.
