Has anyone tried daisy chaining more than one external floppy drive onto a Mac 512K? The Hard Disk 20 has a daisy chain port and the manual explicitly states that the 512K can use two HD20s. I've never heard of anyone using this setup but I'll accept Apple's word that it works. The Apple 3.5" 800K floppy drive also has a daisy chain port (which is explicitly supported by Apple for using two 800KB drives with the Apple II family) and a single drive works fine on the 512K when the HD20 INIT is used.
I don't know the answer, but I have some educated speculation. The SE supports three floppy drives, and (I presume) it has only one IWM chip. That implies that the hardware, at least, in the Plus should be capable of supporting three floppy drives. How are the three floppies in the SE wired in relation to each other? Has anyone taken a multimeter to the connectors to see which wires are congruent (pin 1, floppy 1 connected to pin 1, floppy 2, etc).
Hmmm. Makes me want to get my hands on an SE...
