While I was leaving the post office today, I noticed a sign in the used book store across the street, and decided I needed to read it. Once I was outside the bookstore, I had to go in.
I picked up a copy of Mac Programming for Dummies, with the Codewarrior Lite CD. As today was really hectic, I haven't really looked at it, aside from getting the name of the book and CD and the system requirements for the program. This may be just the diversion I need for the winter. Provided this software will run on my SE/30, hopefully by the spring I'll have a new program for the list to try out :) Even it's just an egg timer. I can hear it now "this egg timer cost over $2000 when it was new". Before I write it though, I need to know one thing, how long does it take to cook an egg? :) Anyone have any tips or suggestions on using this software? I don't currently have a CD-ROM hooked up to my SE/30 to see if it will even run (I hope it does), but that's just temporary. With any luck, I'll be able to dump the CD onto the hard drive, or at least a 200M SyQuest cartridge (I'm trying to keep external devices to a minimum) About three months ago I sent a message about my being in a rut with this SE/30. Someone responded that I might want to consider taking up programming on it. When I read that, I thought that was pretty neat idea, and thought about using HyperCard. I even bought a book on it, but never obtained the software to try it out. I'm thinking now that Hypercard will be on hold for a while, while I play with this for awhile. Well, time to hit the books, Any insight would be greatly valued, J White -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
