I'd crack that case immediately. Run that thing and use your nose to check for a burning smell. Hot is NOT good.

I unoftunatley have no idea what caused the problem(possibly the fans not working)
But I suggest that you maybe think of getting a new fan from a Macintosh dealer.
This probably isn't a great deal of help but anyway
