OK,

I went out to the workshop looking for some bubble wrap to send off an
eBay-won LaserWriter with. While rooting, I unearthed a IIvx with a 500MB
SCSI hard disk.

The disk was a Quantum Pro-Drive LT. Same size as the one I tried, but THIS
one has on-board term power. The other Quantum Pro Drive did not. IT was
marked as just "Pro-Drive". No LT.

To my surprise, it mounted on the desktop when I booted from a System 6.0.8.
floppy disk.

Then , I tried booting from the Pro Drive LT. IT had System 7.6 on it, and
gave the sad-mac with code beneath.

No worries.

Using the Alliance Power Tools disk, I "Auto" setup the drive.

It errored at trying to mount the drive, giving the "Not Enough Memory"
message. Rather than to find a System Heap adjusting init off the Internet,
I just rebooted.

The "Toolbox" took over and asked me to initialize the drive, which I did.
When finished, I copied the System Folder off the 6.0.8. Disk Tools Disk
onto the newly prepped 500MB drive.

Upon reboot, IT WORKED!!!! Again and again.....

So, Mark, the secret will be finding a drive smaller than a GIG, and making
sure it has the term power on the controller.

Jeff
