According to what I have read on the net, it seems like a broken SCSI
controller chip. If you don't want to solder (or don't know how to do it),
the easiest way to fix it would be a motherboard swap - you can get Plus
motherboards on eBay, or perhaps someone in this list can provide you with
one. Perhaps washing the motherboard on the diswasher with a bit of soap and
cold water and letting it dry for two or three days (do not use a heat
source!) can help, even if it is typically used to address other symptoms.
