Your point is well taken. I have a Plus with a bad logic board and/or analog board (visible corrosion) but a good CRT. I'm working on getting a Plus with a slightly burned CRT, but everything else is good. Maybe I'll just strip them both down and use the best parts to build one back up...

How hard is it to replace the CRT in a compact Mac? Assuming I have access to another one to canabalize (non-working, of course)...

Consider replacing not only the CRT but the external case as well. In other words, replace the mother board, power supply, and everything else the other way around. Of course that assumes you're not getting the CRT from a Mac+ to use in an SE/30 case.
