How do others remove that suction cup connection at the tube? My SE 30 must

I believe its a hook type fixing.
If so, after discharging the crt, you can feel the two metal prongs used to create the hook in the neck of the cup. Squeeze together and lift off.

Not the best explaination.

Best to lift the edges of the suction cup with a screw driver and suss what method of connection is used. Then use a insulated tool to compress the two sides. Pliers or multi's of a fitting size, whatever as long as its insulated.

Better still to wait for a more experienced swapper to answer as I'm relying on old tv crt experience but I see little harm in lifting the sides of the cup to see what your dealing with.

The hooks going into the tube vary so if you compress one side accross and that side does not come free you may need to manipulate the cable by hand to achieve the angle to set it free. Use caution or wait for better instructions.
I'd expect the mac to be easier but have no real hands on experience.

A full insulated electrical screwdriver is what I'd use, plastic sheath from the handle to the work area or a suitably wrapped driver.

This is a area where you should both leave the mac for a time to drain and discharge the crt before removing the cup. I have tried to remove the cup from a powered tv, it obviously didn't kill me but I was out for a short time and on the other side of the room when I came to, the numbness in my right side was relieved after half an hour and I'll never do that again. ;)

Suspect the cable has current when removed until you can earth the HV cable unless your've already had your fingers under the cup.

Take care. Sorry Ian, I'm repeating a bit and trying to highlight caution, you explained it well enough for me.
