I have a similar problem with my SE/30 running System 7.1.1. But I only have a network card installed not a network card + another card. However, my network card so far does not seem to work. My network card is an Asante MC+30IET64 network card installed in the PDS slot which I bought from smalldog.com . Details can be found in an earlier thread about smalldog.com 's SE/30 NICs. The NIC came new still shrink-wrapped in box. The included Asante 5.6.0 drivers are installed. I am getting a link light on my hub when I connect an ethernet cable from the card to the cable. In my MacTCP 2.0.4 control panel I have both a localtalk and ethernet option. I put in my IP and gateway info MacTCP and then try to SSH to another computer (via NiftyTelnet)--it fails. I can connect via IP over localtalk to other Macs via MacTCP, but not ethernet. I am having some trouble troubleshooting the location of the problem like the parent poster. Perhaps my PRAM battery is failing although the mac does keep time. My views setting do seem to reset however. I am at a loss as to how to troubleshoot this problem. Which component is at fault? Do I have a bad PDS slot? Do I have a bad NIC? Do I have a bad battery or power supply? Does MacTCP detect the network card when it displays an ethernet option or does it just detect that the driver is installed? How can I test the PDS slot without the aid of another PDS card? How do I test the NIC without another SE/30? Does anyone know of a freeware ping client? I would kill for a UNIX command line here. I simply don't know what I can do to test which component is failing here.
Please help, Skipp

Wow, hadn't thought of that. The clock still had the right date after 8 months of storage, so I figured that was still good. Maybe not?

I have an odd question. Before I packed it up about 8 months ago, my
SE/30 was a very happy camper. I have a Daystar 40mHz card plugged into
the CPU socket and 2 cards plugged into the PDS. The 2 cards are an
Asante ethernet card and (via a right angle PDS adapter a Micron color
card. Everything was working perfectly. I have the xCeed card as well,
so I had both grayscale on the internal display as well as ethernet
working.
Now, after it being packed up for a while, it won't boot with both cards plugged into the PDS slot. If I pull out the ethernet card, everything works fine. It seems like it's not getting enough juice through the PDS to power both cards.
Anyone else ever try this and have a similar problem?
