You're speaking like an ab.ca, rather than a ca.us!

There is no reason why the software owner has to be identified,
either on the public portion of the list or internally.  Such a
list could help us identify which software is know to work on which
machines.  For example: program X works under System 7.x, but
requires Colour Quickdraw, so it will not run on a Macintosh SE.
And so on.
