7.0.1's been known as a buggy OS. If you go to the "about this Macintosh" in the Apple menu, see if your version of 7.0.1 has the dot next to it. That means it's been upgraded to prevent the invisible folder bug and other wild and wacky things that 7.0.1's been known to do.
