No Darren, you're missing the point of this entire list.
It's NOT about money. It's about the object. The item. The Compact Mac!!
I'm happy to pay for a speed-up card or peripherals for my SE/30 - whatever they cost. If anybody has one for sale, just ping me a mail! I want one. If I can get other goodies and I'll need the adapter, then yes, I'll happily pay the price.
An iMac is for you - but an SE/30 is for me :-)

Now I guess that means there is no possible way to shoe horn a imac board into a on topic mac (maybe not the SE).
There are many ways to skin a mac. Cheaper and better optioned.
I lean towards the purists, if I wont more feature I'll buy another mac. For the price mentioned it IS about the money.
