Cubes are pretty pricey yet. You would have to be an extremely talented modification guru with lots of spare cash to make this work. Why not get a clamshell iBook and upgrade the hell out of it? At least then you wouldn't have to worry about keeping it plugged in all the time, and it's a lot easier to use from a La-Z-Boy.

That should give me maximum flexibility for upgrades and keep the
powersupply external to cut down on heat.  Alternativly I can rig up
an iMac logic board for operation off a single 12v+ feed to cut down
on powersupply size if Cubes prove too rare.  I don't need a burner,
but an internal slot load cd/dvd rom seems appropriate and least
destructive for the look of the box.

I'm thinking a nice satin or gloss black finish ala Krylon's new
plastic spray paint they hype on TV should handle looks, as my SE is
BADLY suntanned.  Will epoxys bind to this plastic well?  I've got
some minor repairs to make as well, in addition to fabbing up a new
io bay, etc.
