Hello! I have a old 2 gig hd that I got out of a Windows computer. It has Windows 98SE on it. I would like to put into my SE/30. I would be replacing the 70meg hd that is currently in it.
My question is, how do I go about installing the OS on the hd? Do I need to make a boot disk of the current OS that is on the current hd? (I believe it is running 7.0). Regarding making a boot disk do I just format a floppy and the machine will automatically put the os on the floppy? My SE/30 also has a external hard disk. I tried putting the 2 gig drive in it, but when I booted up computer it refused to even acknowledge there was an external hd hooked to it. This was the way I prefered doing it, because I'm not really excited about cracking the case of my SE/30. (BTW I forget what kind of tool is needed to crack the case of a compact Mac) Once last thing. After I get the 2gig hd installed, and the OS up and running on it, will a machine as old as an SE/30 be able to read the entire 2 gig? Will I have to partion it? I apologize for the length of this message, and I wish to thank all of you for any help you can give me. Take care, Max -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
