I think you should force your mum to use OS X.... she'll love you for it!  I believe 
that's the only way i'll get mine online.  Pop has a G5 and is using a satellite 
connection.  Mum has never tried it!  Good grief.  She needs to get on email.  Times 
they are a changing.  <grin>

As much as I love my compacts, I dearly love OS X Panther on my more modern machines.  
BTW, i've just started taking AppleCare Technician Training and can't wait to get a 
grasp on problem solving and repairing.  Finally i've found something that keeps my 
attention completely riveted and yearning for more learning!

One suggestion for everyone:  Get a copy of Mac Upgrade and Repair 3rd Edition.  WOW, 
what a chock full of information.  And the CD inside has the 2nd edition completely on 
it (in addition to a ton of programs) that addresses, I believe, older Macs with 
troubleshooting, repair, etc.  Very good book.
